Hello,Today I have a very “şık” cocktail for you. It’s called the French 75—and believe me, it’s as fancy as it sounds
Okay, so this drink is actually old. Like, 100-year-old kind of old. It was created during World War I. Can you imagine? And it got its name from a French war cannon (yes, really 😅) because people said it “hits you like a 75mm shell.” A bit dramatic, maybe, but you get the idea—it’s strong and bubbly at the same time.
They first made it in a bar in Paris (of course), and later it became very popular in the 1920s, especially with the stylish, free-spirited jazz crowd. It’s giving total Gatsby vibes—sparkles, jazz music, and a lot of champagne
How to Make It at Home (Super Easy!)
You don’t need to be a bartender or anything, I promise.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons gin (use a nice one, it makes a difference)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (not from a bottle, please 🙏)
1 tablespoon simple syrup (you can make this—just mix equal sugar + water)
Champagne (or any sparkling wine if you’re on a budget, we don’t judge)
A lemon peel or twist to make it cute
Steps:
Put the gin, lemon juice, and syrup in a shaker with ice.
Shake it like you mean it! Around 10–15 seconds.
Strain into a champagne glass (flute or coupe).
Top it with chilled champagne.
Garnish with your lemon twist. Voilà!
Honestly, I love this cocktail because it feels like a celebration in a glass. It’s sparkling, a little bit sharp, and just classy. Perfect for a girls’ night, a romantic dinner, or even just a random Tuesday when you want to treat yourself.
Cheers
